Iron Shield introduces Magura and Grey Widow ISR platforms

The two systems address different parts of the reconnaissance mission. Magura is a tactical, runway-independent ISR aircraft designed for persistent observation, real-time imagery and autonomous operation. Grey Widow extends the family into longer-range loitering reconnaissance with a modular mission architecture.
Magura is a near-silent electric flying-wing platform with a published endurance of up to 120 minutes and a maximum range of up to 50 kilometers. It carries stabilized electro-optical and thermal imaging equipment and can stream real-time photo and digital video to the operator.
The platform is launched using a compact rubber catapult and does not require a conventional runway. Its transportable architecture allows a small team to move, assemble and launch the aircraft from an austere operating location.
For operation in electronically contested environments, Magura can navigate using ground-based radio beacons when satellite navigation is unavailable or unreliable. It also incorporates autonomous mission capability and frequency-agile communications, including in-flight band and video-channel switching.
Grey Widow provides a complementary long-range loitering capability. The partner-published configuration has a range of up to 50 kilometers, approximately 60 minutes of flight time and a modular payload capacity of up to three kilograms. TG autopilot functionality supports autonomous search patterns and continued mission execution without constant manual piloting.
Both platforms are reported by Iron Shield’s Ukrainian technology partners to be operationally deployed in Ukraine. This operational status belongs to the original partner-developed systems and should not be interpreted as completed Canadian production approval.
Iron Shield’s objective is to combine the original Ukrainian engineering and operating experience with Canadian manufacturing, product adaptation, systems integration and quality management. Canadian licensed production remains subject to definitive agreements, technology-transfer authorization, technical validation and applicable Canadian and Ukrainian governmental approvals.
The ISR family also has potential dual-use applications in wildfire monitoring, search and rescue, flood assessment, disaster response and critical-infrastructure observation, subject to applicable civil-aviation requirements.
